About this piece
Town plans of Camden and Sonora, two villages of Preble County, Ohio, on one sheet from Atlas of Preble County Ohio by C.O. Titus, published in 1871. The sheet is printed in black, with Camden tinted in pink and Sonora in green.
Camden (Somers Township) fills the upper two thirds of the sheet. Its incorporated area is outlined in red, with streets lettered St. Clair, Bloomfield, Main, Cross and Hendricks, a railroad cutting across the plan from top to bottom and a creek bending around the east side. Lots, owners and buildings are marked throughout, with a cemetery at the left. Sonora (Harrison Township) is drawn as a smaller plan in the lower left corner, along a railroad, with Main and Hickory streets. Business directories for both villages are printed in small type at the bottom, listing the physicians, merchants, millers and tradesmen of 1871, and each plan states its scale in rods to the inch.
