About this piece
Gratis Township, Preble County, Ohio, an original township map from Atlas of Preble County Ohio by C.O. Titus, published in 1871. The sheet is printed in black with the land tinted green, within a ruled border.
The title "Gratis" is lettered at the top, with the scale of the map beneath it and the township's range and township numbers (Range No. 3, Twp. No. 4) at the head of the plan. The map is divided into numbered sections and shows each farm with the owner's name and acreage, along with roads, streams, schools and churches. The village of Winchester appears at the upper right, with its streets outlined in red, and West Elkton at the lower left is outlined in the same way. Greenbush is also marked. The county line with Butler County runs along the bottom, and Montgomery County lies beyond the right-hand edge.
The sheet records land ownership in this southeastern township of the county in 1871.
