About this piece
Monroe Township, Preble County, Ohio, an original township map from Atlas of Preble County Ohio by C.O. Titus, published in 1871. The sheet is printed in black with the land tinted in green, within a ruled border.
The title "Monroe" is lettered at the top, with the scale of the map beneath it. The township is divided into numbered sections and shows each farm with the owner's name and acreage, along with roads, streams and schools. A railroad crosses the northern edge from left to right, with the settlements strung along it: Eldorado at the left, Hagerstown and Manchester, also called Brown's Station, at the right, and Hamburg just below. Darke County lies along the top edge and Washington Township along the bottom.
The sheet records land ownership in this northern township of Preble County in 1871, and the page number is printed in the upper corner.
