About this piece
Outline Plan of Preble County, Ohio, an original county map from Atlas of Preble County Ohio by C.O. Titus, published in 1871. The sheet is printed in black with each township tinted in a separate color: pink, green, yellow and blue.
The title is lettered across the top as "Outline Plan of Preble County, Ohio," with a scale of two miles to the inch beneath it. The county is shown as a block of twelve townships, named from the northwest: Jefferson, Monroe and Harrison across the top, then Jackson, Washington and Twin, Dixon, Gaspar and Lanier, and Israel, Somers and Gratis along the bottom. Each carries its range and township numbers. Eaton, the county seat, lies at the center, and the villages and the railroad lines are marked, including the Dayton & Western Railroad and the National Road. The State of Indiana lies to the left, Darke County above, Montgomery County to the right and Butler County below. A key of the symbols used is printed at the foot.
The sheet is the index to the township maps that follow in the atlas.
