About this piece
Peru and Bolivia, an original engraved map from an atlas of 1882 published by Blackie & Son, with the title "Peru and Bolivia" lettered in the lower left. The map is colored in outline, with Peru in pink, Bolivia in a lighter tint, and neighboring territories in yellow.
The long Pacific coast of Peru runs down the left side of the sheet, with the ranges of the Andes drawn in dense hachures and the coastal towns named along the shore. The Amazon headwaters and their tributaries spread across the upper right, and Lake Titicaca is visible on the Peruvian and Bolivian border at the center. Bolivia's boundaries are drawn as they stood in 1882, with a long coastline on the Pacific.
The sheet is one of the South American maps of the atlas, drawn at a large scale, with a scale bar and the names of the geographer and engraver in the lower left corner.
